Which Sleeping Pad is best for me?
There is a large assortment of Sleeping Pads to choose from, since you will be including this as part of your gear you may wish to consider among other things, weight. Lightweight Sleeping Pads for Backpacking are widely used.
Some use them with their hammock others prefer inside a tent, either way, the accumulation of items you carry will determine the final weight of your backpack. The lighter the better. Of course, you will need certain items, so saving weight on each accessory will help greatly.
Qualities desired in a Sleeping Pad
What are some Qualities that are desired in a Sleeping Pad? Besides weight which has been mentioned, self-inflating pads are an option, most pads have a valve to enable the user to blow into the pad to make it firmer if needed.
Another quality would be compact ability, not only is it important to save weight but also space in your pack. Conserving space in your pack allows for better arrangement of gear and that makes it easier to get to items you need, more efficiently.
Warmth is wonderful on a cold night if the pad has some insulating factors built into its design and material it can make all the difference when partnered with a quality sleeping bag.
Having the correct length Pad may make a difference in comfort and therefore lend to better nights and/ or days sleep. If your feet are hanging off the end of the pad it probably won’t be too comfortable so choose the right length pad for your height.
Comfort, give some, take some.
Like many other comforts in life, if we want more were going to have to give some ( usually money ) and if we are willing to settle for less, maybe, we can take some. The same principle can apply when buying a sleeping pad or anything for that matter.
Some better quality pads will cost a little more, but in my opinion, it’s well worth it. Consider this, if you choose to sleep under a tent ( instead of a hammock ) you are most likely going to be sleeping on the ground.
That being the case, the only thing between you and the ground is the floor of Your tent, Your sleeping bag, and Your Sleeping Pad. Buying one of the qualities listed above may give you the edge you need to be comfortable and afford a better nights sleep under the stars.
